James Larsen, CEO & Chairman
James LarsenJames Larsen founded IWICS in 2001 utilizing his 25 years of experience in leading teams in the research, development and implementation of intelligent adaptive wireless packet switched relay systems. These multi-hop full mesh networks were applied to a wide range of wireless networks ranging from satellite systems to vehicle telematics throughout the world. Systems researched, designed and developed by James have been successfully manufactured and deployed in a number of
multimillion dollar packet switched projects worldwide. James played a key role in
the specification, negotiation and deployment of these projects.

James has played the lead role in the development of the IWICS international patent portfolio and is actively involved with the filing of new and innovative patents throughout the world. Before establishing IWICS, James served as President & Chairman of Salbu Research and Development where he lead a team in the primary research and development of a cellular relay system concept to enhance the performance and capacity of future cellular/wireless systems and developed demonstrable hardware and software to implement the concept.

James worked extensively within the worldwide standards bodies to help define the international 3G standards. He has also done extensive work modeling current and future network traffic models, mobility models, propagation models, and evaluation of the models against performance requirements.

James earned a BSEE (Communications, RF and microwave systems, analog integrated circut design) at the University of Natal, South Africa from 1980 to 1984. He has completed substantial experimental and theoretical work toward a PhD in advanced adaptive "Burst mode" packet switch systems and antenna design. James has a total of 12 inventions in the field of adaptive packet switched systems, with 142 patents being granted or accepted, covering nearly 50 countries.



Sami Koylugil, Director
Sami KoylugilSami has over 30 years of professional experience in the oil, glass, and natural stone industries. As founder and Director of Product Development and Marketing Ltd for over 22 years, he has extensive experience in new international business development and effective market penetration strategies. He has been involved in numerous successful business ventures in both the Glass and Stone industries.

His diverse business experience has afforded him the opportunity to develop extensive insight and understanding of the nuances associated with International Trade and working with diverse cultures.

Prior to his executive career, Sami developed deep communications industry knowledge working as a wireline engineer for Schlumberger SA in the Middle East. Sami holds a mechanical engineering degree from Imperial College of Science and Technology, London, and a Master of Science in Management from Aston University, Birmingham UK.



Michael Pettit, Director
Michael Pettit Michael currently manages his private patent law practice, Michael Pettit PLLC, where he specializes in patent portfolio development, prosecution strategy, and the preparation/prosecution of patent applications in the fields of communications, mechanics, and finance.

Michael was the Chief Legal Officer at IWICS from March 2005 to September 2008. Prior to his work at IWICS, he had practiced as a partner at Spoor & Fisher Attorneys, in South Africa, where he headed the firm’s commercial department. As a patent attorney specializing in the commercialization of technology and in related intellectual property transactional matters, Michael has enjoyed an ongoing affiliation with Salbu Research and Development and IWICS since 2000. While at Spoor & Fisher, Michael also co-managed an independent consulting company that concentrated on the valuation of intellectual property assets and in the development of patent portfolio prosecution and commercialization strategies. His clients included several preeminent listed companies in South Africa, some of which were also listed on the London Stock Exchange.

Michael earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand, a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Cape Town and a Master of Laws degree from New York University. Michael is admitted as an attorney in New York and in South Africa, and he is registered as a patent attorney in both the United States and South Africa.




Jefferson Hong, Director
Jefferson Hong Jefferson has been involved with IWICS since 2003 as an advisor and investor. Jefferson co-founded and is President of Cladon Enterprise Company Ltd an international import/export company which focuses primarily in the granite trade and services.

Among the many highlights of his distinguished career, Jefferson has served as the President of Taipei Stone Association and as a member of the Rotary International.

Jefferson received a Masters of Business Administration degree from National Chengchi University in Taipei, Taiwan and a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics from National Cheng Kung University in Tainan, Taiwan.





Lee Wang, Director
Lee has a distinguished career as a business leader and an engineer in the electronics industry. He is currently the CEO of FlashSilicon Inc. where he has lead the invention and development of Bit Denser (BiD) Technology in Multi-Level Cell (MLC) non-volatile memory including over 20 United States patents granted. He is also currently on the board and an active advisor of Yield Microelectronic LTD.

Previously, he was the Vice President of Business Development for 3DSP Corporation where he was responsible for business development with Asian OEM companies and foundries. He was also a consultant to Broadwan Communication Inc. where he set up market strategies for their Public Wireless LAN business and filed three patents in WLAN communications and business model. He was a Senior Account Manager for Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation in Irvine, California where he was responsible for sales and account management for to numerous major electronics manufacturers. He was a Senior Account Manager for United Microelectronic Corporation in Sunnyvale, California where he was responsible for sales and account management. He worked in engineering research and development for numerous companies including Conexant Systems, Motorola Semiconductor, and Lovelace Institutes

Lee holds a PhD In Physics from the University of New Mexico. He earned an M. A. in Physics at the University of Oregon and a Master of Science in Physics from the National Tsing Hua University of Hsin-Chu, Taiwan.
